It measures where the camera actually went, frame by frame, then undoes it. Two versions: one for a locked-off shot that drifts, one for footage shot with your hands.

What it measures
The camera's path, then the same path backwards.
Corners tracked across every frame, fitted into one motion per frame pair, smoothed, and warped back out.
The fit is the part that decides whether it works. A person walking through the shot produces a large set of matches that agree with each other and disagree with the camera; averaging them makes the stabiliser try to hold the walker still. It picks the largest agreeing set instead, which is the background as long as the background is most of the frame.
Then the measured path is smoothed over a window you set, and the difference between where the camera was and where it should have been becomes a warp on the GPU. The frame is pushed in far enough to hide the edges that move, and no further than you allow.

Pick the right one of the two
Stabilize Position for a locked-off shot that drifts. Stabilize Position, Scale & Rotation for anything handheld, where the camera rolls and breathes as well as moves.

Let it measure
It tracks corners across the clip once, in a worker, and fits the camera's motion frame to frame. The rack shows the analysed range and a button to measure it again.

Set SMOOTHNESS
A window in seconds. Short follows the operator's intent and leaves small shake; long holds the frame still and asks for more room to do it in.

Cap the crop
MAX CROP is how far in it may push to buy that room. The correction is scaled down to fit whatever you allow, so the number is a budget rather than a suggestion.

Dial STRENGTH, then export
100% is the full correction and 0% is a true bypass. It keyframes, so a shot can be held still through the middle and let go at the end.
The trade
Every stabiliser crops. This one tells you by how much.
Correction is paid for in frame edge, so the only honest control is a budget you set.
Smoothness
How long a window the camera path is averaged over. Longer is steadier and needs more room.
Max crop
The ceiling on how far in the picture may be pushed. The correction scales down to fit it.
Strength
How much of the measured correction to apply at all. Keyframeable, and 0% is a real bypass.
What it won't do
- Steadier costs frame
- Holding a shot still means moving the picture inside the frame, and the empty edge has to come from somewhere. Every stabiliser crops; this one shows you the number and lets you cap it.
- It can't fix rolling shutter
- It moves, scales and rotates whole frames. The jello wobble inside a single frame from a CMOS sensor is a different distortion and stays.
- Motion blur stays blurred
- Blur already baked into a frame by a slow shutter is part of the picture. A stabiliser repositions frames; it cannot re-expose them.
- The background has to be the majority
- The fit picks the largest set of matches that agree, which is the background in most shots. A subject filling the frame can outvote it.
- Measuring takes a pass
- It decodes the clip to track it. Long clips take longer, and it re-measures when you ask rather than on every parameter change.
- Desktop, and the tab stays open
- Chrome and Edge get the full export; Firefox and Safari save to Downloads. Closing the tab mid-export ends the export.
Questions people ask before they start
- Is the stabiliser really free?
- Yes. Both stabilisers are ordinary entries in the effect rack, like the other 170. Nothing here is a trial, and no feature sits behind the subscription — it only removes ads from the app.
- Does my footage get uploaded to stabilise it?
- No. The tracker runs in a worker in your own browser and reads the file from your disk. Nothing is sent anywhere, which is also why there is no queue to wait in.
- Which of the two stabilisers should I use?
- Handheld footage wants Stabilize Position, Scale & Rotation, because a hand rolls the camera and pushes it forward as well as shaking it. A tripod or gimbal shot that only drifts wants Stabilize Position: on a locked-off shot there is no real roll or zoom to measure, so fitting them anyway turns tracking noise into a frame that breathes very slightly, forever.
- How much does it crop?
- As much as you allow. MAX CROP caps it, 12% by default, and the correction is scaled to fit inside that. Shakier footage needs more room; setting the cap low means a steadier-but-not-still result rather than a surprise zoom.
- Can I stabilise only part of a clip?
- Yes. STRENGTH keyframes like every other control, so the correction can be brought in and let go over the shot. You can also split the clip and stabilise one half.
- Do I need a gimbal after this?
- For work shot with the camera moving through a space, a gimbal still gives you a better starting picture than any post correction, because it never loses the edge of the frame. For footage you already shot walking, running or one-handed, this is the fix.
